IZMADE International Summer School in Turin (Italy)

Izmade will run its first edition* of the International Summer School in Turin (Italy) from 24th to 29th of July 2017. A very intensive week where participants will have the opportunity to design and make a furniture set for a non profit organization. The case study and place of intervention will be “Bagni Pubblici di via Agliè”, a public shower/neighborhood house, and its external space. The Summer School’s mission will be to refurbish the space in order to be livable and enjoyable for any type of, activity such as sitting, eating and playing.
The course aims to attract students – both under and post graduates -, professionals and, in general, anyone who is interested in furniture design, interior design and lovers of making movement. The mentorship will be provided by the Izmade members and a very special guest: Cristiana Felgueiras, artist, maker, content and video creator behind the YouTube channel GET HANDS DIRTY. In addition, students will have the opportunity to experience methodologies and techniques that will enable them to work creatively with waste materials and to learn co-design practices.
The Summer School is taught in English.
Each student will be equipped with all necessary materials and work tools and will be mentored by Izmade staff in every phase of the project. The course will take a total of 75 hours of educational effort which equals 3 credits.
